We may feel lonely, depressed, or even anxious, at times, but there is a difference in being and feeling. And we have a helper within us at all times if we have accepted His free gift of salvation.
Webster’s definition of the verb be/am is “equal to.” It gives the example, “God is love.” I could use the example, I am a woman. However, the definition of feel is “to undergo a passive experience of” and “to have one’s sensibilities affected by,” as in to have one or all of our five senses affected by things/situations in our earthly environment or surroundings.
Would you agree that being equal to and feeling are absolutely NOT the same thing? I am not discrediting the way we feel because emotions are certainly real. However, God has overcome all forces of evil for us. He tells us in John 16:33 that He has overcome the world. He also tells us in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful above all things. Since our feelings change, they can be very deceiving. We have to be really careful and not let our heart be dictated by the physical world but only by the Holy Spirit who lives in us. Let us never forget that we have the presence of almighty God living within us who never changes and who has already defeated the darkness of this world. We are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ.
According to Priscilla Shirer in Discerning the Voice of God, “Every human being has a spirit,” which is “designed for relationship with God.” When we become Christ followers, The Holy Spirit, which is the third PERSON of the trinity, “takes up residence in [our] human spirit.” So, see, we have the power that raised Christ from the dead living within us. This power never changes and has overcome every evil force.
We are not anxiety even if we feel anxious. We are not depression. We are never alone. He is always with us, strengthening us, and loving us so very much. Remember God never changes and God lives inside of us as the Holy Spirit, our Helper, so we “take every thought captive to be obedient to Christ.” We have already won because of what He did for us on the cross over 2,000 years ago.
(The words of this prayer were shared with me from a dear sister in Christ.)
God of the Universe, thank you that you are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You have said that you will fight for me while I remain still, rooted in you. May I see your victory in my life. Remind me that there is no power greater than you. Nothing standing against me can prosper. Now may you the Lord of grace, show me favor at all times in every way. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
1 Corinthians 3:16
Never forget that the battle has been won, and for those of us who have made Jesus Lord and Savior of our lives are victorious. Jesus defeated Satan when He was crucified on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead on the third day. But…since we are not in our eternal HOME yet, we must still battle here while on earth. All praise to God! We do not battle alone because His Holy Spirit dwells in His children. The same Spirit and strength that rose Jesus from the dead is inside of us, and we are never alone. He is always with us.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgement.
Isaiah 54:17
I don’t know about you, but I want to be so full of the Holy Spirit that it oozes out of me. The only way I know to fill myself up with the Holy Spirit is to constantly seek God by reading His Word and praying. I have to guard my mind, eyes, ears, and all my being from any source that does not please Him whether it be music, television, or any other influence that Satan tries to use against me. Satan can have a way of waging warfare against us with many things of this world but never forget God’s promises are true.
Satan is a liar who loves to cause chaos. He wants us to think that we have to do things in our power. This usually makes us nervous, anxious, angry, and stressed among many other emotions. Knowing His Word is the best way I can think of to fight against the devil’s schemes. In the armor of God His Word is the only weapon of defense against the powers of this world listed. All the other pieces of armor are for the offense. One truth our Father’s Word tell us is that no weapon formed against us will prosper.
The best way to fight Satan is with God’s word and the only way to know His Word is to study and meditate upon it. In the armor of God His Word is the only weapon of defense against the powers of this world listed. All the other pieces of armor are for the offense. One truth our Father’s Word tell us is that no weapon formed against us will prosper.
When we know God’s Word, we can also pray God’s word aloud in order to bring praise and glory to our Father and to stand firm against the evil one’s schemes. I have shared some prayers below from a dear friend who sent them to me. These are her words, and I thank her for guiding me in the Walk of Faith.
Armor of God Ephesians 6:8-18
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist with the breastplate of righteousness in place and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Victorious Life Prayer God of the Universe, thank you that you are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You have said that you will fight for me while I remain still, rooted in you. May I see your victory in my life. Remind me that there is no power greater than you. Nothing standing against me can prosper. Now, may you, the Lord of Grace, show me favor at all times in every way. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Powerful Name Prayer Heavenly Father, thank you that you are the source of all true joy in life. The Bible says that you will do whatever, I ask in Jesus’s name. Hear my prayer in the name of Jesus for a breakthrough in my life. May you, the God of all grace who has called me into eternal glory by Christ Jesus, make me holy, strong, and filled with peace. To you be glory and honor forever through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Meeting my Needs Prayer Loving Father, thank you that, by you, all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible. You have promised that those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Let me lack nothing as I look to you for every need and desire in my life. Pour out your blessing upon me. May I see your beauty, feel your love, know your wisdom and experience your power through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
Fight for Me Prayer Oh Lord my God, my eternal Father, thank you that you are my ever-present help in times of trouble. Help me to trust in what is unseen. Remind me of the truth of you power that You surround me and you are fighting for me. Give me favor and breakthrough in my life. You are the King of Ages, immortal, invisible, the only God. To you be honor and glory forever and ever through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
